I love a good coffee every once in a while, but most of the time, I opt for a non-coffee drink. I’m going to share my favorite non-coffee drinks that you can make at home! Also, little side note, I love iced drinks, so I’m sharing how I make them iced, but you can also make them hot if you prefer.
I’m going to start with the two basic ones, but share my favorite way to make them.
First is a chai latte. I love making this before school in the mornings because it’s so easy. I just use the TAZO “Classic Chai Latte” concentrate and follow the instructions on the carton by mixing it with oat milk and some ice. The Planet OAT “extra creamy original” and the Chobani Oatmilk “Extra Creamy” are my two favorite oat milks.
Next up is a matcha latte. I have tried a hundred and one different matchas and have finally found my favorite. It’s from Trader Joe’s and is called “Matcha Green Tea Latte Mix.” I love using this mix because it is already sweetened so I don’t have to add anything honey or simple syrup to it. It has instructions on it, but I make it a little differently. I take two a little less then tablespoons of the mix, add a tablespoon of hot water, and use my frother to mix. Then I put ice and ¾ cups of oat milk in a glass and add the matcha. It is SO GOOD.
My all time favorite drink is a London Fog; if you have never tried one, you are missing out. Most of the time I will buy these from my favorite cafe, but sometimes I make it at home, so here’s my recipe. First start by making a cup of Earl Grey tea; I usually use the TWININGS Earl Grey. Since I prefer it iced, I let it cool. I then add a ¼ cup of oat milk, a half teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a tablespoon of lavender simple syrup; I use the Torani lavender syrup. This seriously is the best drink.
On the topic of lavender, sometimes if I just want a fun drink I make a simple lavender lime soda. I do this by mixing some ice, a cup of sparkling water, two tablespoons of lavender syrup, and the juice of half a lime together. It’s so simple, but it really does hit the spot when I want something fresh and sparkling.
Lastly, you can’t go wrong with a good brown sugar milk tea. I first tried brown sugar milk tea when I got boba, but now I make my own version of it at home. I make a cup of TWININGS English Breakfast tea and let it cool. I add a ⅓ cup of milk and some ice. I then take a little bit of hot water, mix it with two tablespoons of brown sugar, and then pour the syrup into the tea. If you want to try it with boba at home I recommend the Trader Joe’s “Instant Boba Kit.” I suggest not adding the homemade brown sugar syrup if you use the boba kit since the boba pearls are all already in a syrup.
Hopefully you find a new favorite drink on this list!
Till next Sunday,
Daisy
